About Us
St. Andrews Uniting Church is situated in the beautiful hills of South Gippsland in the
town of Leongatha. We are an active and enthusiastic group of farmers, professionals, retirees, families - people who follow Jesus. We desire to deepen our faith and share God's love in authentic and meaningful ways.
We are a pilgrim people of the Uniting Church in Australia and welcome people of any tradition including those who are simply curious. ‘Growing in Christ and sharing his love’ is a living statement that reminds us who we are and called to be. We value relationships of care, support and encouragement through times of challenge and times of joy.
St Andrew's Leongatha runs a variety of groups and bible studies and are involved in the community in different ways. Please enquire to find out more.
Ministry & Worship
We meet every Sunday at 10am for worship. This includes appropriate age learning for younger members.
Our Worship team use the FigTree resource as the basis of our Worship Services. We are also blessed to have lay leader Mr. Ken Reid lead us in worship once a month and regularly have visiting speakers and preachers We celebrate the diversity of faith and life experience that all leaders bring to our life and worship.
Key things happening now
Please check what’s happening on Facebook for the most up to date
information.
We are currently enjoying conversation about ministry directions that will shape
priorities in a mission study as we look to call a new minister.
We are also journeying with some of our younger members in a process of
‘becoming disciples’. This is to deepen faith and understanding including exploring
baptism and confirmation.
Baptisms
Baptisms are a delightful reminder of God’s promises towards us all. The Uniting Church sees baptism as a sacrament, something we value highly. We do not offer private ceremonies for family. All baptisms are part of a communal welcome into the family of God.
When an infant is baptised, we ask parent (s) to make important
commitments on behalf of the young one. When someone older seeks baptism, they make their own commitments in faith.
Baptisms are open to all who seek Jesus and take seriously a commitment to follow
him.
The National Assembly of the Uniting Church has further information on baptism. https://ucaassembly.recollect.net.au/nodes/view/535?keywords=Baptism&type=all&highlights=eyIwIjoiYmFwdGlzbSIsIjIiOiIzLmJhcHRpc20iLCI0IjoiYmFwdGlzbS4iLCI1IjoiYmFwdGlzbT8iLCIxMyI6ImJhcHRpc20sIn0%3D&lsk=d7d3288f977ed4d43a6431a57a7411c2
Funerals
The Leongatha Uniting Church offers space for up to 250 people with a good kitchen
and generous sized hall.
When it comes celebrating the life of a dearly departed one, we can guide you through your particular needs. Ministers in our area are
available to lead funeral services at the church or at other venues.
In a funeral, we focus on giving thanks to God for the life of person who has died.
We celebrate that person’s life by framing it within the larger story of God’s love and
promises as revealed through Jesus Christ.
If you wish to enquire further, please contact our booking officers regarding funeral services,
or about costs, availability, and catering needs.
